Reports to: HOD (Ferro Operation Head)
Job Objective:
To supervise and manage ferro alloy furnace operations efficiently, ensuring safe, continuous, and cost-effective production while maintaining product quality, equipment reliability, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
You will be responsible for
- Furnace Operation Management
- Oversee daily operation of submerged arc/ferro alloy furnaces.
- Monitor furnace parameters such as voltage, current, electrode position, and temperature.
- Production Control
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per planning.
- Optimize raw material charging and power consumption.
- Team Supervision
- Supervise furnace operators, helpers, and shift staff.
- Provide guidance and training for safe and efficient operations.
- Quality Control
- Maintain ferro alloy quality as per required chemical composition.
- Coordinate with the lab and quality team for product analysis.
- Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Monitor electrode consumption, refractory condition, and cooling systems.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage.
- Follow environmental and operational compliance standards.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain shift reports, production records, and furnace performance data.
- Report operational issues and improvement suggestions to management.
- Strong knowledge of furnace control, raw material charging, and power optimization.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Understanding of industrial safety and metallurgical processes.
08–12 years of experience in ferro alloy or submerged arc furnace operations.
Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (preferred).
