Reports to: HOD (DRI Electrical Head)
Job Objective:
To manage and maintain electrical systems and equipment in the DRI plant to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production processes. Responsible for preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical installations, power distribution systems, drives, and control panels while minimizing downtime, optimizing energy usage, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
You will be responsible for
- Electrical Maintenance & Operations
- Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of all electrical systems in the DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) plant.
- Handle preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Monitor performance of motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, and electrical panels.
- Power Distribution Management
- Manage power distribution systems (HT/LT) within the DRI plant.
- Supervise transformers, substations, busbars, and feeders.
- Ensure safe load management and energy optimization.
- Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Lead troubleshooting of electrical faults in kiln drives, compressors, fans, pumps, conveyors, and auxiliary systems.
- Analyse recurring faults and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain equipment reliability and availability.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain records of maintenance history, spare parts, and equipment health.
- Coordinate with mechanical and production teams for planned shutdown maintenance.
- Team Management
- Supervise electrical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Allocate tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure proper training.
- Maintain coordination with production, mechanical, and utility departments.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and plant safety policies.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Ensure proper LOTO procedures and safe work practices.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and electrical logs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
- Support plant management in energy monitoring and efficiency improvement.
- Strong knowledge of HT/LT systems, motors, VFDs, transformers, switchgear.
- Experience in DRI / Sponge Iron / Steel Plant operations.
- Knowledge of PLC, automation, and industrial electrical systems.
- Leadership, troubleshooting, and safety management skills.
- 10–15 years of experience in electrical maintenance in.
