Reports to: HOD (DRI Mechanical Head)
Job Objective:
To ensure efficient and reliable mechanical maintenance of the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plant by planning, executing, and supervising preventive and breakdown maintenance activities, minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and ensuring safe plant operations.
You will be responsible for
- Mechanical Maintenance Management
- Plan and supervise preventive and predictive maintenance of DRI plant equipment.
- Handle breakdown maintenance to minimize production losses.
- Ensure proper functioning of rotary kiln, cooler, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and material handling systems.
- Equipment Reliability
- Monitor mechanical performance of key equipment such as kiln drive system, gearbox, bearings, fans, and blowers.
- Implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and plant availability.
- Shutdown & Maintenance Planning
- Plan and execute plant shutdown maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with production and electrical teams for smooth maintenance work.
- Team Supervision
- Lead and supervise mechanical technicians, fitters, and maintenance staff.
- Allocate tasks and monitor work progress.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow plant safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain proper use of PPE and adherence to industrial safety standards.
- Spare Parts & Inventory Control
- Monitor critical spare parts availability for DRI mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate with the stores and procurement department for timely availability.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and equipment history records.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and inspection records.

7–12 years’ experience in DRI / Sponge Iron / Steel plant maintenance.
Strong knowledge of kiln maintenance and material handling systems.
B.E / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
